The catchment flooded severely in February 1992, and Council's floodplain work on Narara Creek followed from it. Council says the Narara and West Gosford areas are still seeing ongoing development, which is why the flood plan for the creek is being revisited.
The age of the house changes the job. A newer rendered home takes a straightforward wash on its paving and a gentle one on its render; an older house may carry cladding or roofing that has to be identified first, because fibro from before 1990 may contain asbestos and must not be pressure cleaned.
Permits and Central Coast Council rules
Narara Creek is a tributary of Brisbane Water, and Council's estuary plan named the Narara and Erina creek sub-catchments as the dominant sources of pollutants reaching the estuary. Runoff from a driveway clean joins that load. Placing polluting matter where it will wash into a drain can be an offence under section 120 of the Protection of the Environment Operations Act 1997 (NSW), so it should be caught at the property.
